I have been thinking about the crisis in housing we are facing and homelessness as a growing problem with 320000 homeless
So what could we do? well, Vote labour is obvious but beyond that some ideas,
Thes are just rough ideas and a wandering mind but how about using JCs investment bank to finance a worker-run co-operative manufacturing prefab housing, unlike the housing made just after the war Modern prefabs can be designed to last much longer , be much more energy efficient and they could even have solar panels and batteries to store power in the day and be used at night feeding any excess off to the national grid .
This could be used for social housing providing secure and varied for needs housing, but more could be extended to more commercial affordable homes using the profit to pay workers and feedback to make ore social housing.
The picture shown at the top is a Canadian modular built prefab, built in a factory are much cheaper to build, there is kit form where the house is delivered in ..well basically walls and you build it, or module where the house is built in sections (rooms) at the factory and can be put together on site .
Obviously it’s just an idea but would love opinions especially from anyone with any expertise in these areas.
